FOUR (2021)
Debuted #7 100% Independent Albums - AIR Charts
Debuted #18 Independent Label Albums - AIR Charts
“SEIMS has always had unpredictability on their side. But FOUR removes all barriers between the band's various fascinations, and when they come together, it really is a sight to be hold.” - Fecking Bahamas
Prepare yourself for one of the most amazing rock records of this year... It's fucking flawless. - Everything Is Noise
“When done right, post-rock can be transformational. Enter Australia’s SEIMS.” - Avant Music News
FOUR was initially inspired by the Myer Briggs indicator of personalities. I always found it fascinating how words on paper can change inference, intent, or perspective purely by someone’s speaking tone and demeanour, and also how it can be received or perceived based on your personality, context, and cognisance.
This album is all about unintentionally misconstrued conversations - multiple voices / themes saying one thing, and being received or misinterpreted a very different way.
3.1 (2019)
3.1 is a continuation of the concept album of “3” - by shifting the focus from colour to luminance. Engineered + mixed by Tim Carr (We Lost the Sea / Matt Corby / Dr. G. Yunupingu) and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Battles / Tyondai Braxton / City & Colour).
“Cinemathic. This music has an epic flavour to it. As if the motifs and melodies that surge through the walls of noise don’t belong to a film soundtrack.” EP of the Year 2019 - My Indie Australia
“As cliché as clean twinkle tapping guitars and emo-tinged vocals are at this point… I mean, how am I supposed to get bored of something if I never get to experience it? Sydney’s SEIMS are maybe an archetypal example of this point as they’re probably the most prominent math-rock band we have also one of the most off-kilter.” - Overdrive Mag
3 (2017)
“The best bands are those that innovate, recreate themselves, forge new paths rather than blow dust off the blueprints. And that’s why we had our eyes and ears pinned on SEIMS‘ new record.” - Fecking Bahamas
“Album of the Year 2017.“ My Indie Australia
“This album will leave you out of breath easily.” - Can This Even Be Called Music?
“…all that remains to us is to stand jaw agape at the vitriolic, dynamic and downright groovy mix of math-rock, jazz and progressive rock.“ - Heavy Blog Is Heavy
”…“Imperfect Black” the first to feature vocals throughout, welcomes, Wartime Sweethearts, who delivers. This is the perfect way to close a faultless album and SEIMS have done it once again.“ - HEAVY Magazine
The third album from SEIMS - a concept album of the CMYK colour model, making quite a few AOTY lists for 2017. Engineered + mixed by Tim Carr (We Lost the Sea / Matt Corby / Dr. G. Yunupingu) and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Battles / Tyondai Braxton / City & Colour).
II (2015)
“Complex, furious, powerhouse math-rock.” - triplejunearthed
“[…] Immersed in synthesized elements, ‘II’ bops like a Nintendo jingle, polyphonic and persistent. Intricately detailed and calculated, there is an air of Battles style quirkiness.” - Muddywalters.com
“[…] full of fuzzy, angular, instrumental math […]” - Arctic Drones
“I can’t recommend this enough to fans of prog/math & instrumental bands who don’t have 12 minutes to sit through a song.” - My Indie Australia
Be swept over by the barrage of arpeggiating Moogs; irritated by the awkward guitar riffs; or mellowed by the sombre moments of the Wurlitzer’s decay. Bust out the “Elaine” on the dancefloor to our mix up of time signatures. Or just constantly be hoping for a clean bass guitar to enter throughout the constant 38 minutes of wall-to-wall music. (Spoiler alert - no clean tone was used in the making of this album.)
S/T (2012)
“[…] this project definitely meets the high calibre standard of these genres. This debut album flows so organically it borderlines perfection […] “ - Heavy Music Magazine
“[…] SEIMS’ takes us on a mystical journey of disjointed movements and sonic compositions that would surely bend Beethoven’s mind and tear it asunder. […] This is not just another CD – this is an overture of alternative music. 9.5/10” - Prog Zone Magazine
“Constant switch-ups in tone and tempo, flourishing with intricate instrumental patterns, present the mind of a musical genius.“ - math-rock.net
“There’s no risk of feeling bored; you’ll be captured by the pursuing rhythm. […] Enjoy SEIMS’s music journey, it deserves your attention.” - Echoes And Dust
With a diverse soundscape, the instrumental album’s dynamic moves constantly throughout the 45 minutes, focusing on the contrast between light and shade, and disruption and solace. Whether it’s through the tribal, prog-influenced 4444 444; the math-rock angular guitar riffs of IVDE; the gentle brass crescendo in CRYBBY; or the warmth of it’s orchestral reprise, BBYCRY - the music on this album has been crafted with the intention of being a complete journey from start to finish.
