SEIMS unveil a new music video for new track COVET.
New song! Enjoy it. We love the clip, however we may be a little biased…
Special thanks to Josh Newman for making this happen.
This is exciting stuff. Close to the Edge are now presenting a regular live event outside their killer radio show (seriously - so much good music crammed into 2 hours), and we’ll be a part of their first gig at FBi Social with Cull, Fait (all the way from WA), and Hawkmoth. Definitely one standout lineup. We’ll also be playing a couple of new songs. New songs are fun. Not so much fun to learn… But fun to play (when everyone has learnt them - HINT HINT FELLOW BANDMATES DO YOUR HOMEWORK).
SEIMS is heading to Newcastle to support Let the Number Be X - long time friends from a long way away. This will be a pretty sweet show - their new album will be launching then (I’ve heard it - it’s crazy good), and we’ll be playing a few new songs as well. More details to come. Facebook event is right here.
The four-piece live unit will hit the stage in Windsor (an hour’s drive out of Sydney for those unfamiliar with how Google Maps works…)
We’re sharing the stage with BFFs Pipedreamer and GODSWOUNDS, AND we’ll be playing a couple of new tracks, too - so if you’re in the area (or can get to the area) - come past and say hi! We like it when people say hi. We also like it when people come and watch us play. Combine the two for bonus points.
If we had turntables and an iPod, I guess we could call this our version of a “DJ set”. Except we don’t have either of those. And we play instruments. And we play our own music. And I don’t know how to use Ableton. (Paul knows how to use Ableton.)
The SEIMS (duo) lineup is:
Simeon - guitar + keys + noise
Paul - trumpet + synth + samples
If you’re not a fan of the duo set (so far, that’s only been our drummer, Gene, and I’m pretty certain he’s not a fan only because he doesn’t get to play in it HAH!) - there’ll be some full-band shows around the corner so hang tight :)
Through the barraging chaos of GODSWOUNDS' vocals on IVDE, the soothing solace of Pipedreamer's warmth in VV, the sporadic glitching beats of The Crooked Fiddle Band's take on 4444 444, and the Captain's cascading polyrhythms in their version of HHJJF; this collection has truly taken the term “perspective" to a whole new level. It’s amazing what a fresh pair of ears can hear. Or what a fresh pair of eyes can hear.
Adding to the soundscape of these remixes, visual artist Huw England has taken on the track DROPLET, and with some inspiration from the original cover art by Jo Kovacs, he’s taken to the oils and canvas - resulting in a spectacular piece of art.
A very special thanks to all the artists involved and their ridiculously high benchmark of works. Please check them out when you get a chance - they all produce some incredible pieces.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the debut self-titled album, a sister remix disc will soon be available! Featuring some extremely innovative interpretations from some of Australia’s finest alternative and prog-rock bands including The Crooked Fiddle Band; GODSWOUNDS; Captain Kickarse & The Awesomes; and much more. It’ll also include a brand new SEIMS track, DVDE.
This should (hopefully) be available for download via the SEIMS bandcamp page from December 20, 2013. For now, check out AM Frequencies' dark and anthemic take on TRNSMSSN below. Original can be found here.
**UPDATE** Due to a few late submissions - the release will be pushed back to late January, 2014. Let’s face it, musicians aren’t really known for their punctuality…
If you happened to catch us last Saturday at the Annandale, then you would’ve noticed that we had an absolute blast at Progfest 2013. Due to circumstances beyond our control - we decided (read: “forced”) to run the set as a duo, one armed with a guitar and keys, and the other with a trumpet and keys (not to mention a few samples, an iPad, and 2 extremely handy loop pedals).
We strayed from a few of the original arrangements, with TRNSMSSN, HHJJF, and VV getting special attention; and CRYBBY received it’s live debut, aided by some heavy looping and luscious layering. This was one set I really wish I had recorded. Woops.
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us - considering the success of the duo (and the amount of positive feedback we received via the Facebooks - thank you!) - we’ll definitely be revisiting this setup where appropriate :)

SEIMS will be gracing the stage as a multi-instrumental two-piece live at The Annandale Hotel on October 5th, as part of the Progfest 2013 lineup. The live band will be changing form for this gig - we’ll definitely be trying a few new things, and needless to say, we’re extremely excited and CANNOT wait ;)

Special thanks to Mike and the Bird’s Robe Collective for their continued support.
